This photograph is from a series of photos from a book Street Life Hong Kong: Outdoor Workers in their Own Words authored by Nicole Chabot. The book was published in January 2015 and was followed by books by subsequent authors looking at outdoor work culture including Sunset Survivors in 2019 and Hong Kong Shifts: Stories from the streets of Hong Kong in 2024. Both published by Blacksmith Books.
Born in North Africa, Australian photographer Michael Perini spent 20 years as a respected photojournalist in Sydney before moving to Hong Kong. His pictures have been syndicated in the international press including The New York Post, News International and The Sunday Times. Michael’s work encompasses diverse fields from family portraiture and aerial photography, to photojournalism, fashion, food, homes and weddings. He has photographed a host of well-known personalities, sporting heroes and dignitaries. These include Queen Elizabeth II, Imran Khan, John Travolta, Tom Cruise, Cate Blanchett, and Roger Moore. His clients include advertising and PR agencies, publishers and website designers.
