In this episode, Nicole and guest, Shika S. Lamba, poet, jewellery designer and fundraiser talk about Shikha’s years-long campaigning efforts on behalf of Afghan women and children: how her passion to help began and how her hand-poured candles and book fundraising and author talks have captured the Hong Kong imagination.
In her talk, Shikha shares never seen before photos of the women and children, giving rare insight into the lives of women, many of whom are widows and the horrific conditions in which they live under Taliban rule. She shows pictures of the home renovations that Hong Kong donors have made possible.
Shikha also shows photos of Afghan orphans with food, clothing and stationery donated by donors she has rallied, showing how community efforts, however, small can make a huge difference to other people’s lives.
A heartening look at a community trailblazer whose attitude towards those in need is truly inspiring.
