Have Your Say – Sophie Lee

Share

Kai Tak has been home to Sophie Lee since kindergarten, which suits her needs for stability. Convenience is a big draw for her, with her home just a short walk from Kai Tak and short minibus ride from Telford Plaza. The newly-built Airside mall, Kai Tak Sports Park, and Kai Tak Mall have been great additions to dining and shopping options in the aream she says.

How long have you lived where you live?

Since kindergarten, so it’s been over 15 years! My home is just a 10-minute walk from Kai Tak MTR and a 10-minute minibus ride from Telford Plaza in Kowloon Bay – quite convenient for daily life.

Can you see yourself anywhere else?

Not really – I’m someone who enjoys stability and familiarity, so I don’t see myself moving around too much.

What’s so great about your home/neighbourhood?

The newly built Airside Mall, Kai Tak Sports Park, and Kai Tak Mall have brought a lot more dining and shopping options to the area. It feels like the neighbourhood is really coming to lite.

Best little known gems?

Can’t think of any off the top of my head – but I’m sure there will be more hidden gems as the area continues to develop!

Best places to eat breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner?

For affordable options, the food court at Airside is great – I often go there for Taiwan noodles. Sometimes, my family and I have dinner at One Ho Yin, a Chinese restaurant nearby. And if we want an easy takeaway meal, we’ll grab two-dish rice boxes (兩餸飯) from 德利小廚. Simple and satisfying!

Best places to drink coffee/find a drink?

I’m not really a coffee person or bar-goer, but I do enjoy getting a drink at 85°C Bakery Café in Ching Long Shopping Centre now and then.

Best other hangouts?

A relaxing walk near Kai Tak Cruise Terminal is my go-to. You can watch the sky change colours and enjoy the sunset – the view is amazing on clear days.

What’s true/not true about your neighbourhood?

It’s true that the MTR sometimes has to do crowd control when there’s a big concert or match at Kai Tak Sports Park – pretty hectic! But that same popularity brings more life, new facilities, and greater convenience to the community.
