How long have you lived where you live?

I was born here in Hong Kong and have been living here ever since. I live in Tai Wo Hau in Tseun Wan district. Tai Wo Hau feels like home, blending local markets with modern shops. It’s a friendly neighbourhood where families thrive, parks invite play and convenient transport connects us to all of Hong Kong.

Can you see yourself anywhere else?

As I’m going to finish high school, I feel a mix of excitement and uncertainty about the future. I’m open to moving abroad for university to step outside my comfort zone. Exploring new cultures and experiences really excites me and could be life-changing for my development. Ideally, I’d love to go somewhere with plenty of greenery, away from the hustle and bustle of city life, since I’ve had my fill of that in Hong Kong. Embracing a quieter, more natural environment would really rejuvenate my spirit.

What’s so great about your home/neighbourhood?

I truly love living in Tai Wo Hau. It’s perfectly situated near shopping areas, yet it still feels peaceful and relaxed. In just 30 minutes, I can escape to beautiful hikes, sandy beaches or the lively city. The neighbourhood is filled with lovely parks and has a warm, friendly community that makes it feel like home. I enjoy wandering through local markets, where I can find fresh produce and unique shops. Overall, Tai Wo Hau beautifully combines convenience, community, and nature, and I couldn’t ask for a better place to call my home.

Best little known gems?

Jockey Club Tak Wah Park is a true hidden gem, just a 10-minute stroll from Tai Wo Hau. This beautiful garden, with its classic South Chinese design, feels like stepping into another world. You can wander among charming old buildings that are rich in history (Grade III Historic Building); watch the playful fish and turtles in the ponds, while soaking up the peaceful vibe. It’s the perfect spot to escape the busy streets and recharge your spirit. It’s 100% my go-to relaxation spot .

Best places to eat breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner?

The best place for breakfast is definitely at home, where my family and I relish Aloo ka Parantha paired with a warm cup of chai. It’s the perfect combo that no restaurant can match—my mom makes the best!

For lunch, I often choose Mos Burger, Habibi, or any vegetarian restaurant that satisfies my cravings, as I’m a vegetarian.

Dinner is more flexible; I usually enjoy a home-cooked meal, but sometimes I treat myself and my mom to Cheese Factory after a tiring day. Their desserts are simply divine!

Best places to drink coffee/find a drink?

Whenever I step into Sammi #00000, I feel right at home! The black and white decor creates such a chic vibe, perfect for snapping Instagram photos. The coffee is not only delicious but also affordable. It’s my go-to place for cozy hangouts and study dates with friends. I love it here!

Best other hangouts?

The best place to hang out in Tsuen Wan is definitely the Tsuen Wan Promenade. I love being by the ocean; it helps me relieve stress. With my DSEs coming up, the pressure can be overwhelming at times. However, walking around the waterfront with my loved ones while enjoying ice cream from the childhood ice cream truck brings me so much relief. It’s truly a place I cherish!

What’s true/not true about your neighbourhood?

I often wonder why some people see Tai Wo Hau as a village cut off from the world. In reality, it’s anything but! This neighbourhood is perfectly situated, with everything I need just a stone’s throw away. I love that I can enjoy the city’s buzz, while also finding peaceful green spaces to relax in. To me, Tai Wo Hau truly embodies the essence of home —charming, convenient and full of life!
