Jaime Dominguez works in Wan Chai but lives in Discovery Bay. Though she’s only been in DB for just over a year, she says she loves its relative quietness and finds it an easy commute to the Island where she works.
Around a year and a half.
Discovery Bay is the closest I can find to where I grew up.
I love the calmness, greenery, proximity to nature, hearing the birds tweeting, feeling like I belong to a small close-knit community. And it’s just a 25-minute ferry ride to Central!
The Rink restaurant does the best food, DBrasserie has great live music, Three Sheets is perfect for a casual drink, and The Chippy serves a great steak pie and runs a really fun quiz night once a month.
DBrasserie is my favourite place for a breakfast/brunch meetup. They make the best smoked salmon bagel I have ever had. Lunch and dinner — I would have to say The Rink. They have an excellent-value Lunch set menu, and their food is always of the highest quality.
My coffee dates tend to be split between Uncle Russ in North Plaza, The Auberge Discovery Bay Hotel (when I fancy a quieter venue), and DBrasserie in South Plaza.
VBT [Viet Bu Tong] in North Plaza has a regular following of customers due to the super friendly manager, Gloria, and her team of lovely servers, who always remember your name and your drink somehow! JOO in North Plaza serves the best crispy chicken and squid.
There’s a misconception that living in DB is inconvenient transport-wise. But, once I downloaded the DB transport app and figured out my schedule, it became easy to navigate.
