Ankrish has called Tai Tam home for the past three years, following a journey through various neighbourhoods in Hong Kong, including Shouson Hill and Jardines Lookout. With a passion for outdoor activities, Ankrish appreciates the accessibility of local beaches and parks, making it an ideal setting for both relaxation and adventure. His experiences living in diverse areas have shaped his perspective on community and convenience, and he’s excited to share his favourite local gems, dining spots, and the unique charm of Southern District.

How long have you lived where you live?

We’ve been living in Tai Tam for 3 years now!

Can you see yourself anywhere else?

As of now, no. Growing up, we lived in a few different areas. From Shouson Hill to Jardines Lookout and now Tai Tam. Honestly all the locations we stayed in were perfect for that stage of life. As a kid, Shouson hill was great as it was close to Ocean Park and we would go to ocean park quite often after school. When we stayed in Jardines Lookout, it was at an age where I was older and was great to have better public transport connectivity. Now that I drive, and work on the south side, living in Tai Tam is perfect for this stage of life! We also have a dog, and this area is great for him! We have a pebble beach just downstairs, and Stanley is a lovely walk for him!

What’s so great about your home/neighbourhood?

Awesome sea views and an escape from the city! Driving back home after work is always so magical with the mountains, beaches, golf course and sea view that you drive through!

Best little known gems?

Go rent a kayak at Stanley beach! It’s such a good little getaway – you can be with yourself for an hour or two on the water, and it is so peaceful!

Best places to eat breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner?

On the southside, our favourite go-to is Spices. But if we’re talking outside of the area too, then my go to favourites are Yardbird, Hutong, Mott 32 and City Hall for dimsum.

Best other hangouts?

In Stanley, I love playing with my dog Clifford in Murray House. It’s private, spacious and a great place for him to run and play with a gorgeous backdrop sea view.

What’s true/not true about your neighbourhood?

Many people think that living in southside is quite far, though it’s really not. It’s just 15min to Southside MTR which offers great connectivity to anywhere in Hong Kong.
