‘Open the Box: Home Sweet Home’ isTai Kwun’s latest public engagement initiative. Until October the 6th, members of the public can partake in a collaborative living art installation that invites you to help build a one-of-a-kind miniature town in cardboard. The interactive installation project has appeared worldwide from London to Kyoto and Scotland to Berlin and is the the co-creation of UK-based artists Abigail Conway and Lucy Hayhoe. As part of this special project, families act as architects and interior designers and can select a plot, build a house, and decorate it as they like. Participants’ houses contribute to a growing miniature town with participants interacting with neighbours, choosing street names, and working together on town projects like a mail service and a local radio station. Open the Box: Home Sweet Home encourages the exploration of community and the concept of home’ in a fun and creative way – and all without the headache of Hong Kong landlords and hefty rental prices.
21 Sep–6 Oct 2024, Closed on Mon. 1F, JC Contemporary, Tai Kwun. $120.
